2. About Us
Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO is a registered Community Based Organization based in Mombasa County, Kenya. We are dedicated to empowering youth, women, and vulnerable community members through programs in:
- Climate Action & Green Energy
- Community Well-Being & Economic Resilience
- Culture, Arts & Innovation
Our website and digital platforms exist to share information about our work, connect with our community, receive donations, and engage with partners, volunteers, and the general public.
3. Use of Our Website
3.1 Permitted Use
You are welcome to use our website for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes — including learning about our programs, making donations, reading our content, and getting in touch with us.

4.1 Eligibility
Our programs are designed to serve youth, young women, persons with disabilities, refugees, and other vulnerable or marginalized community members in Mombasa County. Eligibility criteria may vary by program and will be communicated clearly at the time of application or enrollment.
4.2 Participant Conduct
All program participants are expected to:
- Treat fellow participants, staff, mentors, and volunteers with dignity and respect
- Attend sessions regularly and punctually, and communicate in advance if unable to attend
- Take care of any materials, equipment, or facilities provided during training
- Abide by the specific rules and guidelines of each program or training center
- Maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information shared within group sessions or safe spaces
4.3 Right to Withdraw
Participants have the right to withdraw from any program at any time without penalty. We ask that you inform us as early as possible so that we can offer your place to another community member who may be waiting.
4.4 Disciplinary Action
Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO reserves the right to suspend or remove any participant from a program if their conduct is found to be disruptive, harmful, or in violation of our community guidelines. Such decisions will be made fairly, respectfully, and with the well-being of all participants in mind.
5. Donations
5.1 Voluntary Contributions
All donations made to Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO are entirely voluntary. We are deeply grateful for every contribution, no matter the size.
5.2 Use of Donations
Donations are used to fund our programs, operations, and community activities in line with our organizational mission. We are committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of all funds entrusted to us.
5.3 Non-Refundable
Unless there has been a clear error in processing, donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to resolve the matter fairly.
5.4 No Guaranteed Outcomes
While we work tirelessly to maximize the impact of every contribution, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes from any donation. We will always provide honest and transparent reporting on how funds are used.
5.5 Tax & Legal Considerations
Donors are responsible for understanding the tax implications of their contributions in their own jurisdiction. Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO will provide acknowledgement of donations upon request but is not responsible for providing tax or legal advice.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Content
All content published on our website and platforms — including text, photographs, videos, graphics, logos, program materials, and stories — is the property of Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO or used with the permission of the original creator. All rights are reserved.
6.2 Permitted Use
You may share or reference our content for non-commercial purposes, provided that you give clear credit to Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO and do not alter or misrepresent the content in any way.
6.3 Prohibited Use

6.4 Participant Content
Where program participants, graduates, or community members share stories, photographs, or testimonials with us, they grant Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO permission to use that content for organizational communications, fundraising, and impact reporting — in line with our Privacy Policy and the consent obtained at the time of sharing.
7. Confidentiality & Safe Spaces
Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO operates several programs — including Gumzo Kijiweni and our SGBV support activities — that rely on trust, confidentiality, and the safety of participants.
All participants, staff, and volunteers are expected to:
- Respect the confidentiality of personal stories and sensitive information shared within our programs and safe spaces
- Refrain from recording, photographing, or sharing any information from confidential sessions without explicit consent
- Report any breaches of confidentiality or safety concerns to our team immediately
Breaches of confidentiality may result in removal from the program and, where necessary, referral to the relevant authorities.
8. Volunteers & Partners
8.1 Volunteers
Volunteers engage with Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO on a voluntary basis and are expected to uphold our values of respect, integrity, and community. Volunteers are not employees of the organization and are not entitled to financial compensation unless otherwise agreed in writing.
8.2 Partner Organizations
Organizations partnering with Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO for benchmarking visits, co-programming, or any other collaborative activity do so under terms agreed upon in writing at the time of engagement. These Terms of Service apply in addition to any specific partnership agreements in place.
9. Limitation of Liability
Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO strives to ensure that all information on our website is accurate, current, and helpful. However, we make no warranties — express or implied — regarding the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of any content published on our platforms.
