They Came. They Grew. They Graduated.

Dear Friend of Kijiweni,

There are moments in this work that stop you in your tracks — moments that make every early morning, every challenge, and every late night worth it.

This past month, we had one of those moments.

We gathered as a community to celebrate the official graduation of our very first Beauty Hub cohort — and what unfolded was so much more than a ceremony. It was a celebration of growth. Of resilience. Of young women who refused to let their circumstances define their futures.

We are still smiling.

✨ From Training Room to the World

When our Cohort 1 mentees first walked through our doors, they arrived at different points in their journeys. Some were searching for skills. Some were searching for confidence. Some were simply searching for a space where they felt they belonged.

What they found was all three.

Today, they leave the Kijiweni Beauty Hub as qualified professionals — skilled in makeup artistry, facial therapy, nail technology, henna design, hair styling, and so much more. They also leave with financial literacy, digital marketing basics, and the business know-how to turn their craft into a career.

But if you had been in that room with us, you would know that the most powerful transformation was not the one you can put on a certificate. It was in the way they stood. The way they spoke. The way they looked at their own futures — with clarity, confidence, and excitement.

That is what Kijiweni is all about.

💬 The Moment That Said It All

The stories shared on graduation day were the highlight of the entire event. One by one, our graduates stepped up and spoke — honestly, openly, and beautifully — about where they had come from and where they were now headed.

There was laughter. There were tears. There were proud smiles from every corner of the room.

We could not have scripted a better reminder of why this work matters.

🎂 And One More Thing to Celebrate…

As if graduation wasn’t enough reason to celebrate — this milestone also coincided with a very special occasion:

Kijiweni Uplift Youth CBO turned 2 years old! 🎉

Two years ago, we started with a vision and a deep belief that young people in our community deserved more — more opportunities, more safe spaces, and more people in their corner. Two years on, that vision is alive in every trainee we have equipped, every forum we have hosted, and every community member who has walked through our doors.

Our journey has been defined by community, resilience, and transformation — and we are more committed than ever to the road ahead.

🙏 Thank You — From the Bottom of Our Hearts

None of this would be possible without the incredible people and organizations who stand with us. On this milestone day, we want to say a very special thank you to:

💚 Shining Hope for Communities — your unwavering partnership means more than words can express.

🏛️ The Office of the DCC, the Senator’s Office, and the Sub-County Administration — thank you for your vital support and for showing up for our community.

👴 Our village elders — your presence, wisdom, and blessing mean everything to us.

🌟 Director Mazrui Ali (NACADA), Kenya SRH Care Organization, Big Ship CBO, Thy Great Achievers, and Madam Cindy of RCK Kenya — thank you for being part of this moment and this mission.

❤️ Our entire community — you are the reason we do this. Thank you for showing up, cheering us on, and making this feel like the celebration it truly was.

💌 A Message to Our Cohort 1 Graduates

Dear graduates — we are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you.

You showed up. You pushed through. You grew. And now you are ready — ready to shape your own futures and inspire those who will come after you.

The world is ready for what you have to offer. Go show it what you’re made of. 💚

What’s Coming Next

The journey does not stop here. We are already preparing for our next Beauty Hub cohort — and we are looking for passionate young people ready to transform their lives.
